The Japanese Amb. to Sierra Leone, Tsutomu Himeno and Team have on Thursday 22 February, 2018 met with the Minister of Energy Amb. Henry Macauley at the Ministry of Energy, to discuss the commissioning of the completed JICA funded Distribution Network Project at Goderich.
Amb. Henry Macauley recalled to the Japanese Amb that the JICA funded Network Expansion and Rehabilitation Project including the construction of a 15 MVA substation at Goderich, had been completed and that H.E President Koroma is expected to do the commissioning on the 23rd of February, 2018.
The Minister on behalf of the Government thanked the Japanese Government for its supportive role in the energy sector in Sierra Leone through JICA.
He confirmed that the technical cooperation between the two countries is cordial and further appealed for stronger bonds of friendship.
He led the Amb through a 360° look at the Energy Sector on in the Country and further notified them on the amendment of the Electricity Act which he said made it possible for private sector investment in all areas of the power supply chain. He maintained that this development in the energy sector would allow Japanese private companies to invest in Sierra Leone.
