The first ever resident Turkish Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Amb. Deha Erpek, has on Thursday 22nd February, 2018 met with the Minister of Energy Amb. Henry Macauley at the Ministry of Energy.

Welcoming the Turkish Amb., Minister Henry Macauley expressed gratitude to the Turkish Government and the people of Turkey for the warm welcome accorded to them during the Presidential visit by H.E Ernest Bai Koroma in May last year. He thanked the Turkish Amb. for the supportive role the Turkish Government has been rendering to the energy sector in Sierra Leone in terms of technical and bilateral support.

Amb. Henry Macauley apologised for the delay in the implementation of the AKSA Power Generation Project that was proposed by a Turkish investment company, but happily noted that another Turkish company called the Karadeniz Karpowership has come in with a 100MW vessel to invest in electricity supply in Sierra Leone.

Amb. Deha Erpek was very much appreciative of the Minister’s comments and further assured him that the Turkish Embassy is hence forth open to the Minister’s disposal to convey relevant issues related to the energy sector as well as other issues of urgency that need subsequent support from the Turkish Government. He also invited the Hon. Minister to attend the Turkish Airline’s Inaugural Flight Ceremony to be held on Saturday February 24th 2018. The Turkish Airlines is the airline that flies to more destinations than any other and it commences commercial flights to Freetown.
